Few tips, if youd like to win.

Ship attack effectiveness and the chance of striking the shots depend on the distance to the target, so move your ships of the line as close as you can to the enemy ships and sink them with a broadside barrage before they can get a chance to hit you back. A Ship of the line never misses when it is at close quarters.

Also, remember that the only harmless ship on the board is the one that is already sunk. Some ships might still deliver a good punch even after receiving a considerate amount of damage, so concentrate your fire wisely on selected ships to sink them. This is better than scattering your attack across the ship line leaving the enemy partially damage but ready to hit you back.
